SKF India de-risks new facility by involving FM Global at the earliest opportunity
SKF India is a division of SKF AB Sweden, the world’s largest manufacturer of bearings and seals. To meet its commitment to supply Hero Motorcorp, India’s largest motorcycle manufacturer, and to continue to take advantage of the rapidly growing Indian motorcycle market, SKF was planning the construction of a ballbearing factory in the city of Haridwar, northern India – a relatively remote location in the foothills of the Himalayas.
As the Haridwar project was put in motion, SKF had adopted a comprehensive Group Property Loss Prevention Manual, collaboratively adapted from a framework provided by FM Global for building facilities to highly protected risk (HPR) standards.
SKF involved FM Global from the earliest stages to achieve its loss prevention goals for the new facility. Read the full case study to discover how, faced with some unusual considerations due to the area’s unique climate, the manufacturer made sound, timely decisions on flood prevention and fire suppression measures based on FM Global’s expert input and data.
